Overton loves Clemson

Clemson picked up commitment from two of the three wide receivers who were on campus for Saturday’s Elite Junior Day.

T.J. Chase pulled the trigger on Saturday night. Cornell Powell made his commitment public on Wednesday morning.

Diondre Overton, the 6-5, 195-pound prospect out of Greensboro-Page (N.C.), didn’t pull the trigger on a commitment. But he still had a good visit.

“Clemson was pretty amazing. I really liked the atmosphere, the whole feel and everything. It was a great feeling,” he told TheClemsonInsider, during a recent interview.

What stood out?

“Wide receiver-wise, how they have an uptempo offense, and basically how they promote wide receivers on to the next level.”

Overton added, “It was very exciting. I loved it when I went down there.”

He was joined on the trip by his mom.

“Before I went down there, (Clemson’s coaches) were trying to get my mom down there,” he said. “Then, when she finally got down there, they were telling me that they would love to have me at Clemson and how much of a great fit I would be.”

What did mom think?

“She really loved it. It was a great experience for her, too,”

Overton will visit Wake Forest and Tennessee later this month. Before last weekend’s trip to Clemson, he went to Junior Day at UNC, then stopped by N.C. State for a visit.

Who leads?

“Right now, I really love Clemson. Then, I would say N.C. State.”
