Did Vic Beasley performance at the NFL Combine this past weekend give him an opportunity to be the highest drafted Clemson player of all-time?
It is truly hard to say because where a player goes in the draft has more to do with a team’s need than it does who is actually the best player. Last year, for instance, Jadeveon Clowney went No. 1 in the 2014 NFL Draft because the Texans were in need of an elite level pass-rusher.
Of the top 10 players taken in the draft, former Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans, who was selected at No. 7 by the Buccaneers, had the best rookie season. He hauled in 68 passes for 1,015 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. Clowney finished the year with just seven tackles and played in just four games. So you tell me, based on their rookie seasons, who was better?
In case you are wondering former Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins had perhaps the second best year, catching 65 receptions for 982 yards and six touchdowns for the Buffalo Bills.
