Three-star guard talks Clemson hoops

While on campus for his second visit to Clemson, Winder-Apalachee (Georgia) 2016 combo guard Kamar Baldwin scooped up an offer from Brad Brownell.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound junior was in town Saturday for the Tigers’ overtime win against Georgia Tech.

“After the game, I went up into the locker room and met some of the players, talked to them. I talked to some of the recruits about Clemson, then coach Brownell took me and my family to his office,” Baldwin said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider.

“(Brownell) told us about how I could help the team be better if I came there and how I fit in with the school, the basketball program and how, academically, it’s a great school. And then he offered me a scholarship.”

It was the first high-major tender for Baldwin, who has offers from Georgia State, Richmond, George Mason, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, UT-Chattanooga and Furman.

“It’s a big offer, especially coming from the best conference in basketball, the ACC. Clemson is a good school as well, it means a lot to get an offer from them,” Baldwin said. “It means you’re doing something right when they want you in their basketball program.”

His first visit to Clemson was during the football season for the Syracuse game.

“I like it,” Baldwin said of Clemson. “It’s not a really big campus, so it’s very easy to get around. The town seems pretty nice, very quiet. I feel like I would fit in good if I went there.”

As a junior, Baldwin averaged 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per game.
