Clemson’s second Junior Day of the year is on Saturday. The third and final event is next month during the Orange and White spring game.
River Bluff High School (Lexington) junior Brandon Tillmon hopes to be back on campus for the spring game. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound athlete last visited Clemson in the fall for the UNC game.
“I love it. It’s like everybody is basically family. Coaching staff, players, fans, everybody. The game itself is amazing. I love the atmosphere every time I go,” Tillmon told TheClemsonInsider, during a recent interview.
As River Bluff’s quarterback, Tillmon threw for over 1,300 yards, rushed for 1,200 and accounted for 24 total touchdowns last season. He also played a handful of snaps on defense.
That’s the side of the ball Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables is recruiting Tillmon — as a hybrid outside linebacker.
Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern are recruiting him as a quarterback.
“Wake Forest asked me what position I would want to play on defense or offense, so I’m not really sure about them,” Tillmon said. “South Carolina is also looking at me as an outside linebacker. Cincinnati is looking at me on the defensive side of the ball.”
Next weekend, he’ll visit Georgia Southern. Wake Forest is set to have him on campus later this spring.
“There’s a bunch of schools inviting me to their junior days, saying they want to get me to their spring practice and just get me up to the campus and visit,” Tillmon said.
He added, “I’ll probably be going to the Clemson and Carolina camp this summer. I’ll try to attend Clemson’s spring game. I think coach Venables wants me to get up to that.”
