Final Stop: Clemson

Before wrapping up his tour of schools in the area, four-star cornerback Nigel Knott stopped by Clemson for one last visit.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior from Madison Central (MS) spoke with TheClemsonInsider about his first visit to Clemson.

“We were riding through, coming back from the tour, just stopping at different schools, trying to get a feel for different schools and different atmospheres,” Knott said. “We went to Clemson, and I thought that they would be on spring break, but they weren’t. So we got there and the campus was very active. I guess you could say they had a great campus social life.

“We went through a little bit of a tour, talked to the coaches. Also, I had a chance to sit in on a meeting when they were talking to the players before they went on spring break. They talked with them to make sure they were doing the right things and stuff like that. We toured the facilities, talked to the coaches and got to know each other.”

Among the Clemson coaches, Knott spent the most time with defensive ends coach Marion Hobby.

“He told me that he was glad that I could get there and they really think that I could fit their defensive scheme,” Knott said.

Before that afternoon’s practice started, Knott began the trip back home to Mississippi.

“Basically, (Hobby) said he was going to keep talking to me,” Knott said.

In addition to Clemson, Knott stopped by Tennessee, UNC, Duke and N.C. State during his tour.

As a junior, Knott had 112 tackles, four interceptions and 15 pass breakups.
