Before Clemson broke for spring break, 2017 outside linebacker Breon Dixon made the quick trip up from Suwanee, Georgia with his teammate, five-star DeAngelo Gibbs.
The 6-foot-1, 211-pound linebacker recently spoke with TheClemsonInsider about his trip to watch spring practice in Tigertown.
“It was good, actually. I went up there, we went right after school, so I got up there a little bit late,” Dixon said. “When I was up there, I got to meet with the coaches and spend more time with them. I talked to coach (Tony) Elliott, coach (Brent) Venables and I talked to coach (Dabo) Swinney a little bit.
“We spent time with them, watched the practice and just saw how everything went, like a basic practice.”
He added, “They were really just showing me what the school was like and how it’s a family up there, and how I could fit in, because of how they play. And just getting to know me better and me getting to know them better.”
Tennessee, Florida, Georgia Tech and UNC have offered.
“I don’t have any favorites right now. I’ve got a couple of schools in mind that I’m looking at and are showing me a lot more interest, showing a lot more interest in me,” Dixon said. “But, as in me having a list, I don’t have a list right now. I’m taking it slow. After this spring, I think after this spring, I’ll have a clear view of favorites.”
In nine games as a sophomore, Dixon had 52 tackles, one sack, one interception and a fumble recovery.
Dixon said Clemson is recruiting him as an inside linebacker.
“But they play a lot of real quick, fast linebackers, so they just see me fitting in like that, just cause I can move, I’m quick and have good burst,” he said. “If I have to go out and guard a wide receiver, I can go out and guard. If I have to come down hill and make a play, I can come down hill and make a play.”
