Clemson, SC – Presbyterian scored two runs in the top of the ninth to defeat Clemson 5-4 Wednesday night at Doug Kingsmore.
The Blue Hose out hit the Tigers 10-7 on the night and the Tigers had two errors.
Jake Long got his first start for the Tigers. Long went 5.0 innings and only gave up six hits, three runs and three earned runs. Pat Krall relieved Long in the sixth and pitched two innings of scoreless baseball only giving up two hits.
Presbyterian jumped out to a lead in the first inning as they plated two runs on a two-run home run from McRae.
The Tigers bounced right back. Steven Duggar hit a one-out single. Reed Rohlman walked with two away. Chris Okey doubled off the left field wall to score Duggar and Rohlman and tie the game 2-2.
The Blue Hose took the lead again in the top of the fifth with a run.
Once again the Tigers quickly tied the game. In the bottom of the fifth Andrew Cox singled and moved to second on a bunt by Eli White. With two outs Steven Duggar doubled to right center to score Cox.
Clemson tried to rally in the ninth. Eli White hit a single with the bases loaded and one out to one. But then Tyler Slaton hit into a double play to end the game.
Clemson fell to 14-14 on the season with the loss. The Tigers host North Carolina for a three game series this weekend.
