It’s been a while since Bamberg-Ehrhardt junior offensive guard Drew Wilson was in Clemson.
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound three-star hasn’t been to Clemson since last year, when he was on campus for the March Junior Day. He was invited, but couldn’t attend this year’s March Junior Day.
“I’ve been to South Carolina and I think I’m going up to East Carolina University on the 18th of April. And I still have to visit, I think, North Carolina State, North Carolina and I’m going to try to get back up to Clemson,” Wilson told TheClemsonInsider, during a recent interview.
Defensive ends coach Marion Hobby is Wilson’s area recruiter.
“He just likes the way I can move off the ball and how I’m very athletic. I can play, basically, any position you tell me to. They like that, because I don’t just focus on one position. I can play multiple, so if they need me somewhere else, I can fill in at that position.”
Wilson lists offers from UNC, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Florida State, Florida and Auburn.
“I think my top five is Clemson, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Auburn and Florida State, for right now,” he said.
The group has no particular order.
“It’s just schools that I like right now,” Wilson said.
A decision is “probably” going to be made at some point during the first two weeks in June.
“I would love to go somewhere that has a great academic program. I want to get my degree…if I don’t make it in football, I want my degree so I can go into the work force and make money,” Wilson said. “Then again, it’s all about tradition as well. The team has to have good tradition, a good ball club and it’s wherever I fall in love with.”
