Though Nick Schuessler is still in control of the backup quarterback role as spring practice begins to wind down this week, it appears freshman Tucker Israel is making his move to make the competition in fall camp a whole lot better.
In talking with some around the football program, it appears Israel has separated himself from fellow freshman Kelly Bryant and has put himself in position to be Clemson’s No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart heading into the summer months.
As expected, Israel and Bryant took some time adjusting to not only college football, but to college in general. But as they head into practice No. 12 today in preparation for Saturday’s annual Orange & White Spring Game both freshmen have shown marked improvement, but Israel is in a better position to perhaps push Schuessler for the No. 2 quarterback spot behind starter Deshaun Watson.
