Clemson, SC – The Tigers scored early and often to defeat Western Carolina 14-2 Tuesday night at Doug Kingsmore.

Jake Long had a great performance for the Tigers going 6.0 innings and only giving up one hit, one run and one earned run on only 77 pitches.

Clemson jumped out to an early lead in the second.  Reed Rohlman and Chris Okey singled to start the rally and advanced on a passed ball.  Chase Pinder hit a sacrifice fly to score Rohlman.  Tyler Slaton singled to score Okey.  Glenn Batson doubled to advance Slaton to third.  Andrew Cox grounded out to first to score Slaton to make it 3-0 Clemson.

The Tigers added a run in the third.  With one out Tyler Krieger and Reed Rohlman walked.  Chase Pinder walked with two outs.  Tyler Slaton was hit by a pitch to put Clemson up 4-0.

In the fourth Clemson put the game away.  Andrew Cox reached on an error and Eli White singled.  Steven Duggar walked to load the bases.  Tyler Krieger singled to score Cox and White.  Reed Rohlman walked to load the bases.  Chris Okey singled to score Duggar and Krieger.  Chase Pinder reached on a fielder’s choice before Slaton and Batson both hit sacrifice flies.  Pinder scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-0 Tigers.

Clemson added three more insurance runs in the fifth.  Rohlman and Okey singled before Pinder walked to load the bases.  Slaton grounded out to score Rohlman.  Batson singled to score Okey.  Wharton hit a sacrifice fly to score Pinder.

Western Carolina scored runs in the sixth and eighth on solo home runs.

Clemson moved to 20-19 on the season with the win.  The Tigers host Gardner-Webb Wednesday night at 6:30.
