Listed by Rivals and 247 as an athlete, Juwan Burgess could play wide receiver or defensive back at the next level.
The 2017 prospect from Tampa-Plant (FL) picked up an offer to play wide receiver at Clemson when Jeff Scott stopped by the school on Wednesday.
“When I first got the offer my freshman year, it was for defense,” Burgess told TheClemsonInsider. “Then, once he came back, once Clemson came back and offered me at wide-out, that’s when I was like, yeah, this is something serious.”
But that’s not an indication of which position or side of the ball he would prefer at the next level.
“It really doesn’t matter, just as long as I get on the field and get to be physical,” Burgess said.
The four-star is familiar with Clemson, in part because of the Tigers’ ability to sign some of the best players from his hometown in 2015.
“I know they just recruited two of the top prospects out of Tampa, Deon Cain and Ray Ray McCloud, and I know that their school is just amazing,” Burgess said.
This summer, he wants to visit, but no date has been set. Trips to UNC, Virginia Tech, Florida and Auburn could also be in the works. His only college visit was to Miami last fall for the Florida State game.
One school stands out above the rest.
“I haven’t made a list yet, but it’s for sure, at the top of the list, it’s Clemson,” Burgess said.
Why Clemson?
“The show of interest they have in me.”
