Scott, Caldwell offer Vinson

Jeff Scott and Robbie Caldwell stopped by Trinity Catholic in Ocala, Florida on Tuesday afternoon.

They were there to evaluate and offer 2017 offensive lineman Blake Vinson.

“I talked to them for like 15 minutes before practice, then they told my coach that I had an offer, then he told me,” Vinson said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider on Tuesday night.

“I had no idea that they were coming.”

Florida stopped by for practice last Thursday and decided to pull the trigger after conducting a staff recruiting meeting on Monday. Miami offered on Sunday when Vinson called one of the coaches that night.

They joined Tennessee, Missouri, N.C. State, USF, Vanderbilt and FAU.

“Florida and Clemson were two that I really wanted,” Vinson said.

Georgia watched practice on Tuesday, but they want to see him in camp before offering.

Vinson, who visited Clemson last month for spring practice, hopes to get back on campus this summer.

“I definitely want to go to some camps. I’m thinking about Georgia, Clemson, Florida — I can’t go everywhere, but I just want to pick out a couple of camps that I want to go to and get to know the coaches and stuff,” he said. “I don’t have any dates set yet. I’m still kind of up in the air.”

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound three-star (Rivals) hopes to make a decision by next spring or summer.

“Whenever it feels right,” Vinson said.
