CLEMSON – Georgia Southern defeated the Tigers 7-4 Sunday in the final regular season home game at Doug Kingsmore this season.
Jake Long got the start for the Tigers and went 5.0 innings and gave up five hits, two runs and one earned run. Pat Krall relieved Long and went 1.1 innings giving up one hit, two runs and two earned runs. Alex Bostic faced one batter and gave up a hit. Brody Koerner finished the game off for the Tigers going 2.1 innings and giving up one hit, three runs and three earned runs.
Clemson couldn’t get the bats going Sunday finishing with only seven hits. Tyler Slaton and Weston Wilson each went 2-4 from the plate.
The Tigers took an early lead in the first. Eli White walked before Steven Duggar doubled down the left field line advancing White to third. Tyler Krieger walked to load the bases. Chris Okey hit a sacrifice fly to score White. Weston Wilson singled up the middle to score Duggar and Clemson led 2-0.
Georgia Southern plated two in the top of the fifth to tie the game.
Clemson regained the lead in the sixth. Robert Jolly singled to leadoff. With one out Tyler Slaton doubled to score Jolly and put Clemson up 3-2.
The Eagles scored two in the top of the seventh to taake a 4-3 lead. In the top of the ninth Georgia Southern smashed a three-run home run with two outs to stretch the lead to 7-3.
Steven Duggar walked with two outs in the ninth. Tyler Krieger doubled to score Duggar.
Clemson fell to 27-25 overall with the loss. The Tigers play Furman Tuesday night at Fluor Field.
