4-star OT from ATL talks Clemson

Clemson jumped into the mix with 2017 offensive tackle Andrew Thomas when offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell made a swing through Atlanta earlier this month.

The four-star from Atlanta-Pace Academy visited Clemson earlier this spring to watch practice.

“It was pretty nice,” he said.

The 6-5, 295-pound prospect added, “When I went there, it was kind of like a brotherhood, I guess you could say. They were welcoming.”

During the visit, Thomas spent plenty of time with his recruiter of record, co-offensive coordinator/running backs coach Tony Elliott.

Ranked by 247 as the No. 8 offensive tackle in the class of 2017, Thomas has also taken visits to Georgia, South Carolina and Georgia Tech.

He plans to hit the road again this summer.

“Probably to South Carolina, Georgia, Clemson, probably to Stanford and Alabama,” Thomas said.

Though he offered no favorites or pecking order, Thomas does have a few factors that he will consider as he moves through the process.

“As far as to try and make sure they have what I want to do and offer it. And how long it will take for me to get on the field,” Thomas said.
