Dabo Camp 15 preview

The 2015 addition of the [autotag]Dabo Swinney Football Camp[/autotag] kicks off on Monday afternoon.

Session one of this year’s camp runs Monday to Wednesday. After a break on Thursday, things pick back up for the second session, which runs Friday to Sunday.

As usual, there will be plenty of prospects in town throughout the week.

Among the first session headliners are Fort Dorchester offensive lineman John Simpson and IMG Academy safety Spencer Perry, who’s committed to Florida. Joining Perry for all three days will be teammate/Clemson wide receiver commitment T.J. Chase. The trio is expected to be on campus for all three days of the camp.

Clemson tight end commitment J.C. Chalk will also be in for the entire first session. Last summer, he pulled the trigger and committed before exiting the camp.

With only a few spots left in Clemson’s 2016 class, there won’t be many other 2016 prospects we’ll be watching during session. Most of the prospects are going to be from the 2017 and 2018 classes.

One of the top 2017 guests will be Cocoa, Fla. athlete/quarterback Bruce Judson, who’s committed to Ohio State. He’ll be joined by Orlando-Dr. Phillips teammates Nicholas Smith and Robert Porcher IV. Smith is an outside linebacker. Porcher, the son of the former NFL defensive lineman, is a weak-side defensive end.

Three of the top instate prospects are also expected to be in for all three days: 2017 wide receiver OrTre Smith (Wando), 2018 quarterback Dakereon Joyner (Fort Dorchester) and 2018 defensive end Xavier Thomas (Florence-Wilson).

One of the most recent Clemson offers, 2018 cornerback Christian Tutt (Thomason, Ga.) will arrive on Monday.

The Unsigned Preps program from Tampa will make its annual Clemson stop for the Tuesday one-day camp. Included in the group will be 2016 defensive back K.J. Sails (Gibsonton-East Bay, 2016 defensive back Jayvaughn Myers (Dade City-Pasco), 2017 wide receiver DaQuon Green(Tampa Bay Tech), 2017 running back Makel Young (Tallahassee-FSU School) and 2016 running back Kelvin Clemons (Tampa-Alonso).

Several others will be in on Tuesday for the day, including Andrew Thomas, a 2017 offensive tackle from Atlanta-Pace Academy with a Clemson offer. His teammate, 2017 wide receiver Trey Blount will join him.

Other Tuesday campers include 2018 quarterback James Foster, a 6-3, 185-pound prospect from Lanier High School in Montgomery, Ala., 2017 Chapin tight end Will Register, 2017 Tallahassee-North Florida Christian safety Lyn Strange, 2018 Atlanta-Woodward Academy linebacker K.J. Phillips and 2017 TL Hanna running back Davijuan Dean.

Will Lawrence, a big-time 2018 offensive tackle from Memphis, visited Clemson last week and scored an offer. He’ll be back in town on Wednesday to attend camp. Also returning to campus for the Wednesday workout will be 2017 Broome linebacker/safety D’Marco Jackson.

TheClemsonInsider will release the names of the confirmed second sessions prospects later this week.
