Overton wraps up Dabo Camp

Diondre Overton, the lone wide receiver remaining on Clemson’s 2016 recruiting board, spent the last three days on campus in Tigertown.

On Sunday evening, TheClemsonInsider caught up with Overton, who’s the No. 19 wide receiver in the country, according to the 247 composite rankings.

“It was a great camp to be apart of, I enjoyed it a lot,” Overton said.

The 6-5, 195-pound four-star was on the field working with wide receivers coach Jeff Scott for every practice at session two.

“I really liked the way that coach Scott was able to interact with us and critique my game,” Overton said. “Working with him meant a lot. I know most of their players were, too. That was just a great experience and a great thing to be apart of.”

And he believes that the coaching he received from Scott for the last three days made him better.

“The cutting drills, I learned how to plant and go, get out of my breaks quicker,” Overton said. “That really will expand my game to the next level, if I work on that.”

Dabo Swinney told Overton that he liked what he saw throughout the weekend.

“(Swinney) didn’t really expect me to show out, he didn’t expect me to be the way I was…he thought I was just a basketball player on the football team,” Overton said. “He said he was very impressed with me and he liked the way I play.”

The only other visit he’s scheduled for the summer is a trip to Chapel Hill next weekend for Fedora’s Freakshow. Clemson’s staff has invited Overton to visit again in July for the annual All-In Cookout.

“I’m definitely going to try to get there,” he said.

As a junior, Overton caught 65 passes for 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns.
