Dabo Swinney personally delivered the news to the second 2017 quarterback to add an offer from Clemson.
[autotag]Chase Brice[/autotag], who was in Clemson for Saturday’s one-day camp, was approached by Swinney after the second training session of the day.
“I was pretty excited,” Brice said. “I’ve liked Clemson for a while. When he said it, I had a big grin on my face. It just means a lot. I’m thankful for it.”
Before dispensing camp offers to Brice and Kellen Mond, Louisiana’s Lowell Narcisse was the lone 2017 quarterback with an offer from the Tigers. Each of the three are rated as four-stars.
Out of Loganville-Grayson (Ga.), Brice now owns offers from Boston College, Cal, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Brice will take a couple of weeks off to rest his arm, so some upcoming camp plans were canceled, but he did squeeze in a trip to UNC after throwing at Clemson.
“I really want to visit Kentucky, Miami and Louisville, those three if I can this summer, but nothing is specifically planned,” Brice said.
Back to Clemson: McDonough-Eagle’s Landing Christian offensive tackle [autotag]Chandler Reeves[/autotag] brought his mom and dad to Clemson three days after he was in town for camp.
“I knew I loved Clemson, just from the coaches and things like that, that I saw, so I just kind of wanted to take my parents back and get them on the same page that I was on,” Reeves said, “And also just learn a little bit more, meet some more of the coaches, get around the campus and around the facilities, so it was definitely a productive day.”
On Monday, Reeves and his parents went to visit Georgia Tech, the other school that occupies a spot in his top two.
“I did the same thing I did at Clemson at Georgia Tech (Monday) morning, just went around and met some academic advisers, things like that,” Reeves said. “And I talked with their team chaplain, another great guy that I would love to be around and would loved to be coached by.”
At this point, Reeves doesn’t plan on visiting any other schools.
“I think I’m really blessed with what’s on the table right now,” he said. “And, right now, I’ve just got to sit down with my family and pray, talk and thinking, just figuring out where I want to go to college.”
In and out: [autotag]Jordan Anthony[/autotag] and [autotag]Joshua Paschal[/autotag] were en route to Athens when they decided to make a swing through Clemson. Their Saturday afternoon stop in Tigertown lasted about 20 minutes.
The 2017 prospects were on campus long enough to meet some of the coaches, before the 2:30 training session. Brent Venables, Marion Hobby and Dan Brooks greeted Anthony, a linebacker, and Paschal, a defensive end.
“When we were talking to coach Venables, he was talking to us about the academic (side), like how coach Swinney, he tries to make sure everybody graduates,” Anthony said. “(Venables) said that, last year, everybody graduated except two, and they went to the draft.”
Anthony and Paschal hope to make it back for a game this fall.
“I know I definitely want to get a tour of there, but I don’t know when that’s going to happen,” Anthony said.
