Within a matter of days, [autotag]Chandler Reeves[/autotag] visited Clemson and Georgia Tech, the top two choices on his list of offers.
After camping at Clemson last Tuesday and picking up an offer on Wednesday, Reeves returned with his parents on Saturday afternoon. The family visited Georgia Tech on Monday morning.
TheClemsonInsider caught up with Reeves to discuss his weekend jaunt to Tigertown, which was highlighted by the lunch he had with other recruits and a handful of Clemson coaches and staff members.
“I just thought it was cool they took time to sit down and each lunch with our families,” Reeves said. “I thought it was cool that we did it in a group setting and they were isolating us and things like that. It was nice to sit down as a group with some guys I might be playing with in the future and getting to know each other and eat lunch. That was great.”
For Reeves, the purpose of the quick return was to make sure that his parents were on the same page that he is, as it pertains to Clemson.
“A lot of Clemson coaches said, when you come here, we want you to go out to other places and we just want you to see that Clemson is different,” Reeves said. “I think that’s a great way to recruit, that they have the ability to do that. They do have a great thing going there, a bunch of great coaches, great facilities that will be even better in two years.
“Go see Clemson and then go see the competition, then compare them like that, so I think that was a big deal for my parents, going up there, then, obviously, the spiritual aspect. Coach (Dabo) Swinney is probably the most devout Christian in college football, and that’s a big deal for me and my family, as far as my faith goes.
“I think it’s faith first and then school and then football. Once you get done with school, you’re going to go play football. I think that’s a big deal for my family.”
Scout rates Reeves as a three-star and ranks him as the No. 58 offensive tackle in the class of 2016.
Now, he’ll spend some time in prayer and thought, hoping to make somewhere before the end of summer.
