Today we continue our series on the best players Clemson will face this fall. With matchups against Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Florida State, South Carolina and Georgia Tech on the schedule the Tigers face one of the toughest slates in the country.
So who are some of the best players the Tigers will see in 2015? Today we examine the defensive tackles.
Adam Gotsis, Georgia Tech
How he did last season? He finished the season with 36 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss and three sacks while playing in all 14 games.
Why is he ranked here? He earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2014. At 6-5, 282 pounds, he ranked eighth on the Yellow Jackets’ defense in total tackles last season. He is considered to be a preseason All-ACC First-Team tackle in 2015.
Connor Wujciak, Boston College
How he did last season? He registered 30 tackles, including 17 solo stops, and was third on the Eagles with 7.5 tackles for a loss. He also tallied three sacks.
Why he is ranked here? At 6-3, 300 pounds, he clogs up the middle. He is considered to be one of the best defensive tackles returning this season. He was named third-team All-ACC in 2014. He recorded a career-high seven tackles at Wake Forest and vs. Pittsburgh.
Nile Lawrence-Stample, Florida State
How he did last season? He missed much of last year with an injury, but he was very productive when he was on the field.
Why is he ranked here? He is ranked here on potential more than anything else, but he is here because despite an injury he still managed to record at career-high 10 tackles, including one sack against Clemson. At 6-1, 323 pounds, he is one of the biggest players in the ACC and his ability to clog up running lanes makes it difficult for opposing offenses to run the football.
