The summer recruiting season is in full-swing. Unfortunately, real, live college football is still a couple of months away.
With that in mind, TheClemsonInsider is taking a look back at the recruitment of each returning player on the Clemson roster.
QB [autotag]Nick Schuessler[/autotag], Loganville, Ga. – Redshirt Junior
Schuessler’s path to Clemson detoured through Starkville, Miss.
Prior to joining Clemson as a preferred walk-on in July of 2012, the former three-star recruit enrolled at Mississippi State that June. He left before the end of the month.
Originally committed to Colorado State, Schuessler picked up the Mississippi State offer during an official visit just before signing day.
Clemson’s initial pursuit of Schuessler ended once Chad Kelly committed to the Tigers in the summer of 2011.
That fall, Schuessler led Grayson High School to a 15-0 season, which culminated with a 5-A Georgia state championship.
By the time he transferred to Clemson, three of his former teammates from Grayson were committed to Clemson: Wayne Gallman, David Kamara and Robert Nkemdiche.
Before he was eligible to play at Clemson, Schuessler had to sit out the 2012 season, because of NCAA transfer rules.
