The summer recruiting season is in full-swing. Unfortunately, real, live college football is still a couple of months away.
With that in mind, TheClemsonInsider is taking a look back at the recruitment of each returning player on the Clemson roster.

Gibson made his first visit to Tigertown in October of 2012 to watch Clemson take on Virginia Tech. At the time, N.C. State was his only offer.
In November, by way of defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks, Clemson offered Gibson as a safety. Once he returned in February of 2013 for the Elite Junior Day event, Gibson heard pitches from assistants on both sides of the ball.
Defensive backs coach Mike Reed, who was just brought on board from N.C. State, told Gibson he wanted him at safety. Jeff Scott hoped Gibson would give his wide receiver group consideration, too.
By spring of his junior year, Clemson, N.C. State and UNC were Gibson’s primary suitors. The Wolfpack added his commitment that June.
Gibson’s pledge to play wide receiver for N.C. State was short-lived. At the end of August, he was back on the market.
It didn’t take long for him to make a decision. A week after decommitting from N.C. State, Gibson committed to play safety for Clemson.
Dabo Swinney accepted the commitment just hours before Clemson kicked off the 2013 campaign with a 38-35 win over Georgia.
“It felt right and it was in my heart. That’s where I wanted to go and I did it before the game because I had faith that the program would do something that hasn’t been done before,” Gibson said.
