Today we conclude our series on the best players Clemson will face this fall. With matchups against Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Florida State, South Carolina and Georgia Tech on the schedule the Tigers face one of the toughest slates in the country.
So who are some of the best players the Tigers will see in 2015? Today we examine the cornerbacks.
Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
How he did last season? Ramsey ranked fourth on the team with 79 tackles in 2014, and was second in tackles for loss with 9.5. He was the team leader with 12 pass break-ups to go along with two interceptions.
Why is he ranked here? He is arguably the best cornerback in the ACC, if not the country. He was an All-American as well as a First-Team All-ACC corner. His 12 PBUs ranked second in the ACC. He earned three national defensive player of the week honors for his performance against Oklahoma State, Syracuse and Louisville.
Jack Tocho, NC State
How he did last season? He totaled 41 tackles, 11 PBUs and one interception in 2014.
Why he is ranked here? He has started 20 games in his career, including all 13 last year. Followed up a good freshman season with an even better sophomore campaign in which he earned the team’s award for defensive back of the year.
D.J. White, Georgia Tech
How he did last season? He had 66 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a team-high four interceptions. He started all 14 games for the Yellow Jackets in 2014.
Why is he ranked here? He was one of the best cornerbacks in the ACC a season ago. He was an honorable mention All-ACC player and besides his four interceptions, he also had a team-best eight PBUs as well as one forced fumble. He had four tackles and an interception against Clemson last year.
