Across the board appeal

The summer recruiting season is in full-swing. Unfortunately, real, live college football is still a couple of months away.

With that in mind, TheClemsonInsider is taking a look back at the recruitment of each returning player to the Clemson roster with the Back When series.

RB [autotag]C.J. Fuller[/autotag], Easley – RS Freshman

Fuller arrived on the scene after putting together a solid sophomore season at Easley, rushing 115 times for 805 yards.

By the time Clemson offered in October of 2012, in the middle of his junior year, Fuller had 148 carries for 1,601 yards with 14 touchdowns and three touchdown receptions. Easley was also riding high at 7-2.

That fall, Fuller was a regular at Clemson home games.

He also made the trip up to UNC for the Virginia Tech game. The Tar Heels scored a return visit to Chapel Hill for the junior day event in February.

N.C. State had him up in April and he Wolfpack also jumped in with an offer, joining Clemson and UNC.

Georgia Tech also received a visit, but Paul Johnson never pulled the trigger on an offer.

The recruiting process came to a close for Fuller in May of 2013 when he committed to Clemson.

“At Clemson, the football program is growing. It’s just been there. I want to be part of that. They have a great coaching staff, great players. The head coach, coach (Dabo) Swinney, I like him a lot. Good fans, just the whole thing. It’s just everything that I like about Clemson.”
