[autotag]Bryce Mathews[/autotag] wants to take one last visit before he makes a decision.
The four-star offensive tackle from Brentwood, Tenn. will return to Clemson next Friday for the All In Cookout.
Ranked by Rivals as the No. 16 overall offensive tackle in the class of 2016, Mathews was on campus in April with his family and teammate, 2018 quarterback Gavin Shoenwald.
“I always wanted to go there, for a while,” Mathews said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider.
“I had some coaches who had been there and some friends who had been there. They just said it was a beautiful campus, an awesome school, so I wanted to go see it for myself and see if it lived up to the hype. It really did. It was an amazing atmosphere, great coaches, great facilities. Everything was great about it.”
Next week, Mathews will return with his parents and sister.
“I just want to sit down and talk with the coaches for a little bit, if I can, and then see if I can picture myself going there,” Mathews said. “If it feels like it’s the right atmosphere and the right fit for me, if I feel like that’s where I’m being called to go,” Mathews said. “I just want to feel it out, see how it is.”
Mathews hopes to reach a decision shortly thereafter.
“This will probably be my last visit before my decision happens,” he said.
Since the April visit to Clemson, Mathews has been to Tennessee and Ole Miss. Along with Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, the Tigers, Vols and Rebels are in the running for his commitment.
“I just want to find a place that feels like where I fit right, and I get
along with the players and coaches, and somewhere I could see myself go for the next four or five years,” Mathews said, “Somewhere I look forward to being the next four or five years and getting a college education and hopefully contributing to the team.
“So, really, the main thing, is the fit and right atmosphere for me.”
Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell sees him as a tackle.
“But he said he likes how I could be a guard, if I needed to be, but he said he would have me at tackle,” Mathews said.
