Pinckney to pick Clemson or South Carolina

[autotag]Nyles Pinckney[/autotag] is about ready to pull the trigger on a commitment. Before his decision, he’ll return to [autotag]Clemson[/autotag] on Friday for the annual All-In Cookout.

Pinckney also has tentative plans to visit South Carolina for the Gamecocks’ social event, which is scheduled for the 24th.

Those are the primary candidates for the four-star defensive tackle from Seabrook-Whale Branch.

“I’m feeling like I may want to stay instate. I’m leaning towards staying instate. I’m taking a real good look at South Carolina and Clemson,” Pinckney said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider.

Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, UNC and Virginia are among the listed offers.

Pinckney last visited Clemson in November for the South Carolina game. His most recent trip was a January jaunt to South Carolina.

“I’ve had a good look at both schools,” Pinckney said. “This will be my last look them. Then, I should be able to make my decision in September or August. I may take a few special visits before I make my decision.”

On Friday, Pinckney hopes to “look around” at the school and “get to know the coaches better.”

He would also like to get a better sense of what position the Clemson staff thinks is the best fit, whether that’s at defensive tackle, nose guard or defensive end.

“I think I could play any position my coach needs me to. I feel like I’m versatile as a player. I could play either way,” Pinckney said.
