Clemson lands Kelly

During a webcast on Friday afternoon, four-star defensive end [autotag]Xavier Kelly[/autotag] announced that he is committed to Clemson.

A rising senior at Wichita-East, Kelly chose [autotag]Clemson[/autotag] over Georgia, Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, Kansas State, Oregon and TCU.

“They have a family environment and I really love that about them. I just have a good vibe with all the coaches and the coaches are all about me. They recruit me really hard,” Kelly said webcast, shortly after the announcement.. “They have a big-time football program in the ACC. That’s one of the higher conferences.

“I like how coach Dabo Swinney, he’s never offered a JUCO player, so I don’t have to worry about JUCO players coming in and replacing me. He’s really loyal to his players. He treats his players good and you can tell he’s a good person outside of football.”

Kelly was on campus in Tigertown twice this summer. After the May 31 visit, he was back for the fourth-annual All-In Cookout.

“We ranked each thing, 1 out of 10, 10 being the best. Academics was a 10, campus was a 10. They got a lot of 10s. Everything was a 10, so I felt like that was a perfect fit for me,” Kelly said.

According to 247, Kelly is ranked the No. 5 weak-side defensive end in the class of 2016. 247 lists him as the No. 53 overall in the country.
