Impact Freshmen – Deon Cain

With fall camp just a few weeks away The Clemson Insider.com takes a look at which true freshmen will have an impact on the 2015 season for the Tigers.

One incoming freshman that will see the field early and often is Five-star receiver Deon Cain.

Deon Cain played quarterback in high school, but will play receiver for the Tigers.  Cain easily made the transition to receiver at the US Army All-American game where he showed how dangerous he will be at his new position.

The All-American will play the same position this season as Mike Williams, but look for the coaches to try to find other ways to get the ball in his hands.  Don’t be shocked to see Cain throw the ball at some point this season.  He could also be a great weapon in the wildcat formation for the Tigers.

Coach Elliott hasn’t been able to see Deon on the field yet, but said the first time he saw him walking down the hall he got excited about the opportunities to use this new weapon.

Cain will be hard to keep off the field as he learns the offense,  but  he is playing behind a future NFL player in Williams.  Look for Cain’s contribution to increase as the season moves along.

Deon will be one of the next great receivers at Clemson.  WRU continues to reload, not rebuild.
