Ogundeko arrested, again

Former Clemson defensive end Ebenezer Ogundeko has been arrested, again. This time the 19-year old has been charged and arrested for third-degree assault and battery.

Ogundeko was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center last Friday at 11:53 a.m. and was later released on a personal recognizance bond of $1,092.50.

The Brooklyn, N.Y. native was dismissed from the Clemson football on May 19, after being charged with financial transaction fraud. He has since transferred to Tennessee State University.

The latest incident, however, occurred before the Clemson Police Department arrested the sophomore for financial transaction fraud at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Old Greenville Highway.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by The Clemson Insider on Tuesday, Ogundeko is charged with third-degree assault and battery after an incident on March 27 at The Pier at Clemson apartments on Edinburgh Way in Seneca, S.C.

The warrant for his arrest was signed two days after he was kicked off the Clemson football team.

According to the case report released by the Oconee County Sheriff Department to The Clemson Insider, the victim attended a party on March 27 at The Pier at Clemson apartments, which was also attended by Ogundeko. The victim states he was standing alone and was “minding his own business” when the suspect passed by him and stated, “It looks like he has a problem.”

The victim told the suspect, who is alleged to be Ogundeko, he did not have a problem nor did he want any trouble so he retreated to another room. Later on he confronted the suspect and wanted to clear up any misunderstanding there was, but it appeared that only made the suspect mad.

The victim then walked into another room where he was followed by the suspect and five of his friends. When he turned to flee, the suspect struck him at the back of his head and knocked him to the ground. The victim said he was kicked repeatedly by the suspect and several of the others with him while he was on the ground. The victim said he was unable to get up and the majority of the blows struck him about his head.

The victim stated that the suspects were “stomping him.” A friend of the victim came to his aid and broke up the assault. The victim received a chipped tooth, busted lip, several abrasions and contusions around his face and head. He also had an injury to his nose and left eye, and abrasions on his arms and hands as a result of the assault.

The victim was treated at Care Connect in Clemson and a copy of the medical report was given to the arresting officer.

A spokesman for the Oconee County Sheriff Office told The Clemson Insider the investigation has been closed by their office and no other arrest are expected on this matter.
