Impact Freshmen – Mitch Hyatt

With fall camp just days away The Clemson Insider.com takes a look at which true freshmen will have an impact on the 2015 season for the Tigers.

Mitch Hyatt could be the most important freshman on the roster, with the departure of Isaiah Battle.  The Five-star offensive tackle was already going to make a significant impact this season, but that impact increased significantly when Battle left the team.

Hyatt will be helped greatly by the fact that he enrolled early in January.  The most important thing for him was to get his body physically ready to play college football at the highest level and he had seven months in the Clemson weight room to get ready.

Both coach Swinney and coach Caldwell have raved about Hyatt’s understanding of the game.  He won’t have the experience of Battle, but may already have a better knowledge of the game.

Hyatt will takeover the starting left tackle position in camp.  If things go as expected he should be a starter for the next four years.  His performance this year will be one of the keys to Clemson making a championship run.  Protecting Watson will be critical this season and Hyatt will be one of the keys.  That is a lot of pressure for a true freshman, but Hyatt is not your typical freshman.
