Over the weekend, Clemson basketball coach Brad Brownell extended an offer to Columbia City, Ind. forward [autotag]Brachen Hazen[/autotag].
The 6-foot-8, 200-pound 2016 prospect told TheClemsonInsider that his contact with [autotag]Clemson[/autotag] began two months ago through associate head coach [autotag]Mike Winiecki[/autotag].
“I’d love to take an official or an unofficial (visit). I’d love to get on campus and see how it feels, to see if it’s the right fit for me,” Hazen said.
Maryland, Creighton, Valparaiso, Ball State, UCF and St. Joseph’s have offered.
“It’s awesome. I’ve kind of got a wide-variety of schools looking at me, from the Big 10 to the ACC all the way to the MAC schools,” he said. “I’ve got good options and feel like I’m in a good position to make a good decision about where I want to continue my basketball career at the next level. I’m excited about it.”
Hazen admitted that he doesn’t know much about Clemson’s program.
“I haven’t done that much research on them. I watched them one time last year. I don’t remember which game, but they’re pretty up-speed, up-tempo kind of team. They were fun to watch,” he said.
Within the next week or so, Hazen hopes to have scheduled some official visits.
“I’ve got a good list of schools that I like,” he said. “All of them are looking great for me. I love them. Just got to get out, take a few visits and, hopefully, get a decision taken care of (in) late September or early October.”
As a junior at Columbia City, Hazen averaged 13 points and seven rebounds per game.
