Brice recaps return to Clemson

Four-star quarterback [autotag]Chase Brice[/autotag] arrived to Clemson just before 9 o’clock Saturday morning for his first visit to the school since the Dabo Swinney Football camp.

The Loganville-Grayson (Ga.) junior gave the trip high marks.

“I got to sit in the meeting with coach (Brandon) Streeter and the QBs — Deshaun (Watson), Nick (Schuessler), Kelly (Bryant) and Tucker (Israel). Just got to see what they did and how coach Streeter talked to them,” Brice told TheClemsonInsider over the weekend.

“They had a whole itinerary planned for me. I just kind of got to hang out with everybody. Everybody is nice. Jordan Sorrells, he was touring me around and Cam (Aiken). I got to be on the field and talk to coach Swinney while they were having practice.

“Everybody was around me, introducing themselves. I got to talk to coach Jeff Davis. He was great. I just had a really fun time. They made it interesting. Practice was great. The players, they didn’t complain or anything, they were happy to be there. And I had a really good time.”

After leaving the quarterbacks meeting, Brice sat down with Dabo Swinney and Thad Turnipseed.

“I had a meeting with him about 9:45, me and my dad and him and coach Turnipseed. He’s one of my dad’s buddies from way back when,” Brice said. “(Swinney) was just explaining to me that they’re interested in me and they like me. I’m high on their board and we just talked about normal things.

“His son, Will, his game Friday night, their scrimmage and how it went — he was asking me about my scrimmage against Lambert last weekend. He was just real friendly. We laughed and talked about committing and knowing where to go and how I should know what school fits me and when I should know. He said don’t rush it, make sure 100 percent that it’s the school you want to attend. He was real open about everything.”

Lately, Brice has give some thought to his decision and when that might be made. He doesn’t have an exact timeline for a commitment, but does have a general idea of when he wants to do it.

“I was thinking — probably not during the season, because junior year is a pretty important year with everything and recruiting, so I was thinking maybe after the junior season, maybe in the spring, spring practice going into my senior year, but I haven’t really decided on a certain date or anything.”

Clemson, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have offered.

“Clemson, they’re pretty high on my board. I really like them a lot. That visit Saturday really gave me a good feel on them and what they do,” Brice said.

As a sophomore, he passed for 1,759 yards with 19 touchdowns.

Grayson’s season kicks off on Friday night at Gainesville.
