During his first visit for spring practice, 2017 offensive tackle [autotag]Blake Vinson[/autotag] saw most of the sights around the [autotag]Clemson[/autotag] campus.
In June, the three-star prospect returned with several of his teammates from North Marion High School in Citra, Fla.
“When we were at Clemson, they had camp at the same time, so we didn’t really get to see any of the coaches, but we got a full tour of all the facilities — one of the graduate assistants did it,” Vinson said. “We got to watch a real long video…in the team meeting room. They showed us their locker room and we got to go out on the field and see The Hill. It was mainly a tour.”
The group also made stops at Georgia Southern, UNC, Duke, NC Central, South Carolina and Tennessee. They also camped at N.C. State and Alabama.
Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell is in regular contact with Vinson, but offensive coordinator Jeff Scott also has a role.
“(Caldwell) could see me playing guard or right tackle for them. Mainly, he wants to get me there for a game. They just really like me. He said he’s really high on me,” Vinson said.
Vinson yet to set up a third visit to Clemson.
“I have to look at my schedule and see what my bye week. Clemson is one of my priority schools I want to get to for a game, so I’ll try as hard as possible to get up there,” he said.
Since he lives 30 minutes from Gainesville, Vinson can go to plenty of Florida games. He’s already planning to be there for the Tennessee game.
Several schools have offered Vinson, including Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, UNC, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.
“I haven’t come out with a top list of schools yet,” he said. “I’m just going to wait for my season to end.”
