The latest on Simpson

TCI was recently in touch with John Simpson. What’s the latest? Where will he visit this fall? When does he plan on making a decision.

The four-star offensive lineman from Fort Dorchester has plenty of options to choose from, in addition to Clemson. South Carolina, Tennessee, LSU and Florida are considered to be the others.

What are your visit plans for the fall? Have you scheduled anything?

Simpson: “I have not scheduled any games yet, but I am taking my five officials.”

Are you going to try to do those this fall?

Simpson: “I’m not sure. I have to pick the five that I’m going to visit.”

Which schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?

Simpson: “Tennessee.”

What have they done to make you think that?

Simpson: “They stay in contact with me all the time.”

What’s the contact with Clemson been like?

Simpson: “It’s been less, but we stay in contact.”

What are the main factors you’re going to be looking at as you continue through the process and try to make a decision?

Simpson: “Family-like and chemistry with the team is all I’m really looking for. And W’s.”

What’s the toughest part about going through this process?

Simpson: “Nothing really. It doesn’t really phase me. I’m just taking my time.”

What do you like the most about it?

Simpson: “Meeting new people.”

Of all the coaches you’ve met and heard from, which one do you think you’re the closest with?

Simpson: “Coach (Tony) Elliott from Clemson.”

What’s the best piece of advice he’s given you when it comes to handling the process?

Simpson: “Don’t let it take control of me, because it can be really stressful.”

When do you plan to have a decision made? Or are you undecided?

Simpson: “Undecided.”
