Four-star PG enjoyed return to Clemson

Four-star point guard [autotag]Blake Harris[/autotag] was among the top prospects to visit Clemson last weekend for the season-opening football game against Wofford.

The [autotag]Clemson[/autotag] staff offered while he was on campus in July for his first visit to the school. Harris spoke with TheClemsonInsider earlier this week about trip No. 2.

“I had a great visit. The coaches were open and the players, I knew some of them. And the atmosphere was great,” he said.

Harris, a 2017 point guard from The Carlisle School in Virginia, is originally from Chapel Hill, N.C.

“I could see how the fans were really into Clemson sports and athletics,” he said. “They were coming up to me and telling me to come to Clemson. There’s a lot of pride for Clemson.”

Clemson head coach [autotag]Brad Brownell[/autotag] and assistant [autotag]Steve Smith[/autotag] saw Harris on Wednesday during an open gym session at The Carlisle School. The two coaches spent plenty of time with him on Saturday.

“Just that I would be a great fit and I could probably play a lot my freshman year, because the only person that would be there would be Shelton Mitchell,” Harris said, when asked about his conversations with the Clemson coaches.

“(Mitchell) would be a senior my freshman year, if I decided to go there, so it would be a good opportunity.”

Harris is friends with fellow 2017 recruit A.J. Oliver, who was also on campus for Saturday’s game. That wasn’t the only familiar face he bumped into over the weekend.

“I knew A.J., because I’ve played him plenty of times,” Harris said. “But I knew Donte (Grantham), because the first time I went up there, we went to his room and hung out, so I talked to him for a while.”

Florida State, Miami, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Cincinnati have also offered. Harris is unsure where his next visit will be.

“There are open gyms going on right now,” he said. “I don’t know if I catch any new offers, maybe one of those, but not any that I know of right now.”
