Spector takes in App. State win

Before heading up to Clemson for Saturday’s win over Appalachian State, 2017 commitment Baylon Spector had his own business to tend to.

Spector and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets made quick work of Gordon Central on Friday night, rolling to 54-0 win that was called at halftime.

The Tigers’ outside linebacker/safety commitment took the opening kickoff back 85 yards for a touchdown. He played just two possessions on defense and recorded three tackles. On offense, he worked at quarterback and wide receiver.

TheClemsonInsider caught up with Spector on Sunday, to talk about his trip to Clemson for the 41-10 win.

“I had a real good time. I loved it. They treated me amazing. I love it up here and I don’t want to be anywhere else,” he said.

Shortly after his arrival, Spector met up with head coach Dabo Swinney.

“We just talked. We just talked about the game (Saturday) night and then talked about the game, their game and then Louisville coming up and how they’ve got to get ready for them,” Spector said. “We just talked about a few different things, nothing really that was about me in particular playing. We just had a conversation. It was a good talk though.”

Brent Venables envisions Spector working in the nickel/SAM role.

“I watched them most of the time. There was an outside linebacker and they’d line up until it was third down and they’d go nickel, so they’d come out and bring another cornerback in,” Spector said.

Next month, he plans to visit for the Notre Dame and Georgia Tech games.
