North Carolina OL sees Clemson

Brock Hoffman, a junior offensive lineman from Statesville, N.C., visited Clemson earlier this month for the season-opener against Wofford.

It was the first trip to Tigertown for the 6-foot-3, 285-pound prospect.

“The Clemson visit, I really liked it, because of all the things they did for us. The tour of the facility and just the atmosphere around the coaches and around the game was very exciting,” Hoffman said.

Dan Brooks, Robbie Caldwell and Mike Reed all spoke with him. Their message?

“Just to keep working this season, progress.”

For week two, Hoffman went to Virginia Tech for the Furman game. He also plans to take visits to Duke, Appalachian State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and Navy.

Hoffman is being evaluated at center and guard. As a freshman, he played center, before moving to guard last season. Now, he’s back at center.

“I like center more, because I like to be the leader of the line,” Hoffman said.

Over the summer, he went to camps at ECU, N.C. State and Duke.

Hoffman will be on the lookout for a few different things as he moves through the recruiting process.

“Opportunity to play as early as possible, progression as I grow into a man. Education is a big one,” he said.
