Tigers’ time to impress is coming

Granted, beating a Louisville team that so far has been winless in three games does not appear to be much of an accomplishment. Beating those same Cardinals by just three points is perhaps the reason why Clemson fell one spot to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll on Sunday, while staying put at No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25.

But wins and losses can sometimes be deceiving. Just looking at the Tigers’ 20-17 victory does not impress anyone. Clemson was favored by six points, and won by three. Quarterback Deshaun Watson did not play his best, there were too many penalties and they allowed a 100-yard kickoff return.

The Tigers (3-0, 1-0 ACC) did not look as if they deserved to be a top 10 team as they survived beating a Louisville team in a game that maybe they did not deserve to win, or did they?
