Overton recaps first Clemson game

Diondre Overton finally got his first look at Clemson on game day.

On Sunday during an interview with TheClemsonInsider, the Greensboro-Page (N.C.) four-star wide receiver detailed that visit.

“It was a great experience for me. I really liked the environment, especially it being my first game,” Overton said. “The weather had a little bit of an impact on the day, but it was a great game.”

What was the best part of the day?

“Just being there. Being out there on the field, seeing how they warm-up, seeing how they do things with intensity, and also being in the locker room.”

Overton was impressed with what he saw from Clemson’s supporters.

“The fans were very into it,” he said. “They’re very dedicated to Clemson, being that they stood out there in the rain like that, throughout the whole game. That really had an impact on the game.”

Offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell and co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Jeff Scott continue to double-up on Overton, who was named to the Shrine Bowl on Monday afternoon.

“I mean, the coaches, like coach Scott and coach Caldwell, they keep on recruiting me hard. They tell me it’s a special kind of school and that it’s the place to be,” Overton said.

During the pre-game festivities, Overton was alongside several Clemson commitments, including Zerrick Cooper, Cornell Powell, T.J. Chase, J.C. Chalk and Tavien Feaster.

“It was nice to catch up with some of them. It showed me what it would be like if I was to attend Clemson with the class of 2016,” Overton said.

Members of the Tigers’ 2016 class let it be known they’re ready for Overton to jump on board.

“Throughout the whole day, they were saying I need to come down there with them,” Overton said.
