Daniel offensive lineman Cade Stewart was named to the Shrine Bowl team on Monday afternoon.
A couple of days earlier, the three-star prospect from Daniel High School — by way of Six Mile — made the short ride over to Memorial Stadium for the Clemson-Notre Dame game.
“It was awesome. I really loved it,” Stewart told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday. “I got to bring my little brother and my dad with me and he loved it, my little brother.
“He turned over to me about halftime and said, ‘We aren’t leaving just yet are we?’ I said, ‘We won’t leave until you’re cold.’ He said, ‘OK.’ We were there until the middle of the third quarter. He said, ‘I’m finally cold.'”
Stewart hadn’t been to a Clemson game since last season’s match-up against Louisville.
“I hung out a bunch with coach (Joey) Batson, because his son is on my team, he was down there, too, the quarterback, Ben Batson,” Stewart said, “So I hung out with him and his dad. I talked to coach (Robbie) Caldwell for a little bit.”
What was Caldwell’s message?
“He was just telling me to keep up the good work and keep doing good and things will come.”
Charlotte, Furman and P.C. have offered.
UNC had him in earlier this season for a game. He also went to Chapel Hill in the summer for the Tar Heels’ annual showcase camp.
Stewart has yet to determine where he’ll visit next.
“I’m trying to get everything arranged,” he said. “I don’t know where I’m going next weekend. I might make it up next weekend, but I’m not sure just yet. I will look at every school, but I’m not sure.”
