Chase Brice took his first game day trip to Clemson on Saturday night for the showdown with Notre Dame.
The junior quarterback from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga. visited twice this summer. First, for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, where he picked up an offer from Tigers, and again in August, to watch practice.
Brice told TheClemsonInsider that he “really enjoyed” Saturday’s visit.
“I’d probably say the beginning, the opening with the game when they’re running down the hill,” he said, “That’s really electric and that really gets your blood going — that’s probably my favorite part, that and rushing the field.”
The 6-2, 195-pound prospect was also impressed with the game day atmosphere.
“The fans were great before the game, tailgating. They were crazy. It was basically a packed house,” Brice said. “Besides the rain, that didn’t seem to affect anybody. It was just great. Everybody was excited.
“The players were hype. The coaches were excited. Before the game, they were hanging out with us. They were loose. They were relaxed. It was just a real family environment. Everybody was just open. They were welcome to anything. It was just homey like.”
Brice spent time with quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter. He also spent time with graduate coaches Durrell Barry and DeAndre McDaniel.
“They were just all hanging out in the team room and the game room when we were eating, just talking to them,” Brice said.
A return trip to Clemson could be made next month when Florida State heads to Tigertown. This season, he’s also been to the Michigan State-Oregon game and the Georgia-South Carolina game.
Clemson, Michigan State, Miami, Louisville, Virginia Tech and West Virginia are among the schools that have offered.
Brice is still mulling a decision date.
“It’s just a matter of going through our football season,” he said. “Maybe after our football season I’ll narrow some schools down, but as of right now, I don’t know.”
