Rock Hill-South Pointe sophomore athlete Derion Kendrick visited Clemson earlier this season for the Notre Dame game.
The 2018 four-star has already been to UNC and he’s hoping to make trips to Georgia, which recently offered, and back down to Florida, the school he grew up rooting for and currently lists as his favorite.
So far this season, Kendrick has 73 tackles, three interceptions and a total of seven touchdowns.
TheClemsonInsider recently caught up with Kendrick for details about his first game day visit to Clemson.
How was the trip?
“It went good.”
What stood out about it?
“How the team was warming up.”
Which coaches did you talk to?
“Coach (Jeff) Scott and the defensive back coach (Mike Reed).”
What did coach Scott say to you?
“Where all I had been, like game-wise, and he was showing me one of the things that I said before, which was I like defense better. And he was like, ‘Can’t we change your mind?’ I was like, ‘I can play both sides. It doesn’t matter to me.'”
Why do you like defense better?
“Defense wins championships. That’s what I’ve always been taught.”
What do you think about the Clemson program and the direction they’re headed in?
“They’re headed to win they can win a championship soon.”
