Tigers in the NFL, Week 10

TCI has a complete rundown of Clemson’s NFL alumni in action during Week 10…

Buffalo 22, NY Jets 17

BUF: Jonathan Meeks—2 tackles

Sammy Watkins—7 tgts, 3 rec, 14 yds

Meeks continues to make the most of his opportunities in the defensive back rotation for the Bills. A week after getting basically all of the targets in the passing game, Watkins was back to a peripheral role. The massive fluctuation in his production is a bit of a mystery, but there’s no question the Bills intend to continue to feature him in some way.

NYJ: Marcus Gilchrist—7 tackles (4 solo)

Only two Jets defenders had more tackles than Gilchrist in this game. The veteran safety has seemingly found a home in a solid New York secondary and continues to put up solid numbers on a weekly basis.

Pittsburgh 30, Cleveland 9

PIT: Martavis Bryant—10 tgts, 6 rec, 178 yds, TD, fumble

Outside of one fumble, Bryant played a brilliant game on Sunday. His 32-yard touchdown grab solidified the Steelers’ lead and gave them some breathing room in what ended up being a rout. Few receivers in the league have the combination of skills Bryant brings to the table.

Miami 20, Philadelphia 19

PHI: Byron Maxwell—3 tackles, PBU

Maxwell’s season has had some ups and downs, but lately, there have been more ups as he finally settles into his new role. The Eagles might have buyer’s remorse for giving Maxwell a big contract to be a semi-shutdown guy, but the pass defense is beginning to sort itself out in Philly.

Washington 47, New Orleans 14

WAS: Bashaud Breeland—9 tackles (6 solo)

Against a potent passing attack from the Saints, Breeland led his teammates in a decisive victory. Much of the work came in coverage, as Drew Brees found it difficult to navigate Washington’s secondary. Breeland led the Redskins in tackles, and this performance will be a feather in his cap for quite a while.

NO: Stephone Anthony—7 tackles (2 solo)

Tavaris Barnes—1 tackle

C.J. Spiller—8 car, 24 yds; 2 tgts, 2 rec, 10 yds

Anthony and Barnes saw their defensive coordinator fired after Sunday’s performance in which the Saints were just brutalized on that side of the football. Anthony has played well as the middle linebacker on a very young unit, but his leadership hasn’t been enough to elevate the group as a whole. Spiller is still one of several weapons at Drew Brees’ disposal out of the backfield, and he was utilized plenty of times on Sunday.

Tampa Bay 10, Dallas 6

TB: Adam Humphries—3 tgts, 2 rec, 25 yds

Humphries spent some time on the practice squad this season, but the obvious rapport he has with Jameis Winston has him on the active roster—possibly to stay. He should see the ball come his way at least a few times each week moving forward.

Detroit 18, Green Bay 16

DET: Crezdon Butler—2 tackles

On Saturday, Butler was a practice squad player for the Lions. On Sunday, he was one of the heroes in a historic victory in Lambeau Field. His presence in coverage caused a critical incompletion late in the game as the Packers attempted to take the lead. Maybe Butler has finally found a home this season.

Jacksonville 22, Baltimore 20

JAC: Andre Branch—1 tackle

Branch is part of the rotation at end for the Jaguars. Other than that, there isn’t much more to say about his performance in a big win on Sunday.

Carolina 27, Tennessee 10

TEN: Coty Sensabaugh—2 tackles

Sensabaugh has flip-flopped back and forth between covering out wide and in the slot this season. The Panthers present some challenges to fifth defenders, so Sensabaugh had a tough matchup this week.

Arizona 39, Seattle 32

ARI: Jaron Brown—5 tgts, 3 rec, 38 yds; tackle

Chandler Catanzaro—3-3 FG, 4-4 XP

Andre Ellington—5 car, 61 yds, TD; 4 tgts, 3 rec, 27 yds

The most surprising development in this game might have been the emergence of Brown, who became a prominent target for Carson Palmer in the second half. Ellington also had a monster game, including a 48-yard touchdown run with just more than two minutes to play that effectively iced the win. Catanzaro was money all night long. Two of his field goals were from 43 yards away, and the other he made from 33 yards.

Other Rostered Players: Kourtnei Brown (HOU), Chris Clemons (ARI), Jarvis Jenkins (CHI), Antoine McClain (ARI), Tyler Shatley (JAC), Tony Steward (BUF).

Inactives: Brandon Thompson (CIN).

Bye Week: Dwayne Allen (IND), Vic Beasley Jr. (ATL), Kavell Conner (SDG), Malliciah Goodman (ATL), Chris Hairston (SDG), Grady Jarrett (ATL), Bradley Pinion (SFO), Brandon Thomas (SFO), Charlie Whitehurst (IND).
