COLUMBIA — Deshaun Watson led Clemson through the air and on the ground as Clemson escaped from Williams-Brice Stadium with a 37-32 win over South Carolina on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers’ Heisman hopeful put on a performance that was worthy of an invite to New York’s Downtown Athletic Club, completing 20 of 27 passes for 279 yards and a touchdown.

Watson was just as effective on the ground, finishing with a game-high 114 yards and three touchdowns (5, 30, 3).

Clemson took a 7-0 lead with 8:42 to play in the first half when Watson lept past a pair of South Carolina defenders.

After a three-and-out for the Gamecocks, Watson led another scoring drive for the Tigers, which ended with a 55-yard scoring strike to Deon Cain.

Watson led a 75-yard touchdown drive on the first possession of the second half. His 30-yard scamper pushed the Tigers’ lead to 21-3.

The knockout punch with just over eight minutes to play when Watson extended Clemson’s lead to 34-25 with his 3-yard rush.
