CHARLOTTE, N.C. — TCI hands out another round of helmet stickers, after Clemson’s xx-xx win over North Carolina in the ACC Championship game.
The Tigers’ offense set three ACC Championship game records: total yards (608), total plays (98) and first-downs (33), so there were plenty of worthy candidates on that side of the ball.
Wayne Gallman
The Wayne Train rolled up 187 yards on 28 carries. His 185 yards on the ground is the second-highest total in ACC Championship game history. Gallman became the first player in game history to have a rushing and receiving touchdown. A vast majority of Gallman’s work was done in the second half. In the first half, he had just 17 yards on the ground.
Clemson OL
It was another impressive performance by the unit as a whole. The Tigers rushed for over 300 yards, with 100-yard games by Gallman and Deshaun Watson. Watson wasn’t sacked, despite throwing 42 times.
Cordrea Tankersley
Tankersley’s third quarter interception changed the complexion of the game. With UNC marching down field, looking to overtake Clemson’s 21-16 lead, Tankersley picked of Marquise Williams at the Tiger 3-yardline. Clemson then went on a 97-yard touchdown drive.
Shaq Lawson
A second timely turnover helped Clemson clinch its second ACC Championship game win. Lawson’s strip/sack of Marquise Williams as UNC was driving with less than seven minutes to play.
