Back on board with Clemson

During the Under Armour All-America Game on Saturday, five-star linebacker Shaq Smith committed to Clemson for the second time.

This one’s for good. The Baltimore native will enroll at Clemson in a few days.

“I’ve been there plenty of times. I loved it from the first time I was there,” Smith said on ESPN.

Clemson scored Smith’s commitment on Saturday over LSU and Auburn. Maryland and Oregon occupied spots in his top five.

Smith first committed to Clemson in March of last year. The pledge lasted nearly five months, before he backed off, citing a desire to take other official visits.

“Coach (Brent) Venables is a great guy. Coach (Dabo) Swinney is a great guy. Those are both players’ coaches,” Smith said. “Coach Venables, he knows football and I feel like I can be best developed there.”

The IMG Academy graduate is back on board with fellow 2016 linebacker commitments Tre Lamar and Jamie Skalski. Lamar also played in the Under Armour game. He’ll also in enroll at Clemson next week.

Smith and Lamar will be joined by Dexter Lawrence, Nyles Pinckney, Tremayne Anchrum Jr., Sean Pollard and LaSamuel Davis.
