GLENDALE, Ariz. – After Monday night’s instant classic in the desert, TheClemsonInsider hands out helmet stickers to the Clemson players who made the biggest impact in the 45-40 loss.
There were plenty of worthy candidates for the Tigers, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
Hunter Renforw
Clemson’s first two touchdowns were touchdowns passes to Renfrow (31, 11). The former walk-on had a team-high seven catches. He also had 88 yards receiving.
Kevin Dodd
The junior from Taylors was unblockable. He tuned up Alabama right tackle Dominick Jackson with three sacks and two more tackles for loss. Dodd finished with seven total tackles.
Adrian Baker
Forced into action with the injury to Mackensie Alexander, Baker finished with one tackle. His biggest play of the game was the fourth quarter pass breakup on a fade to Calvin Ridley, which held Alabama to a field goal.
Wayne Gallman
Alabama bottled up Gallman as a rusher, but he several big plays in the passing game, finishing with three catches for 61 yards. On the ground, Gallman ran 14 times for 45 yards and a touchdown.
B.J. Goodson
Goodson finished second among all Clemson defenders with 10 tackles. He played a big role in helping to keep Henry bottled up, after his 50-yard touchdown, to open the game. Henry had 108 yards on his other 35 carries.
Charone Peake
In the final game of his Clemson career, Peake had a team-high 99 yards receiving. He also caught six passes.
