“Ben Boulware Jr.”

While Jamie Skalski was in town for his official visit, he picked up a new nickname.

“This whole weekend I’ve been called Ben Boulware Jr.,” Skalski told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday night.

According to Skalski’s Rivals profile, he’s 6-foot, 230 pounds. Boulware’s profile, from the 2013 haul lists him at 6-0, 225.

Boulware was a four-star and ranked as the No. 8 inside linebacker. Skalski is a three-star with no national ranking.

“He’s going to be like my big brother when I get up there. Just learn as much as I can from him and compete, see what happens,” Skalski said, when asked about the expectations for his permanent arrival to Clemson.

Christian Wilkins was his host for the official visit weekend.

“They had a nice room for you, great little stuff in the room, like a cookie cake, a sweatshirt you could wear over the weekend. It was cool,” Skalski said. “We went to dinner every night. Every night, we had a great dinner. Great breakfast, great lunch. We ate great food. I got to see a lot of things. Going to the Clemson basketball game was real fun.

“At night, the host would take you out, so you could just see everything. You could see how Clemson was outside of football, so that was really fun.”

The Newnan, Ga. prospect was joined by the other commitments in Clemson’s 2016 class.

“Most of us, all of us were committed already, except for two guys that were there,” Skalski said. “They just showed what they expect of us and how they’re excited for us to come. It was just Dabo (Swinney) being Dabo talking. Then, talked to (Brent) Venables about what he expects from me and all that.”
