Listed at 5-feet-11 and over 220 pounds, Cordarrian Richardson fits the profile of running back that Clemson’s recruited since installing the hurry-up, no-huddle.
The four-star from Memphis-Trezevant is listed by Rivals as the No. 6 running back in the class of 2017.
Richardson recently listed Clemson among his eight favorite schools, which also includes Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Oklahoma, Alabama, Michigan State and Florida State.
Clemson was included on the list for a number of reasons. Co-offensive coordination and running backs coach Tony Elliott is a big reason why.
“One thing that really stood out to me is that he’s cool,” Richardson said. “I see how they use their running backs in the system. I feel like I would fit well in the system.”
Though Richardson has not visited Clemson, he does plan on making the trek to Tigertown.
“I just want to see some great things, get to know the coaches, just look around, meet some people, meet some of the current players on the roster,” he said.
Clemson’s area recruiter, Dan Brooks, stopped by the school last Thursday. Elliott keeps in regular contact.
“When I first met coach Elliott, he’s going to keep it real with you. He’s going to be straight-up with you,” Richardson said. “That’s what I like about coach Elliott and he keeps in touch with me.”
Auburn and Ole Miss have also been by the school. A trip to Miami for junior day is also in the works.
“I’m pretty sure that, sooner or later, things are going to be narrowed down,” Richardson said of his list.
As a junior, Richardson rushed for 2,390 yards and 18 touchdowns.
