Reeves raves about Clemson

Chandler Reeves has quite the future as a spokesman for Clemson and its football team.

The three-star offensive line commitment from Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Ga. had some pretty positive things to say about the Clemson’s coaches and how the program operates.

“A lot of times, you go to colleges and these coaches are…stuck on football. They’re not even a person. These coaches at Clemson do have an on-off switch,” Reeves said. “They do well at balancing and knowing that football is one piece of the puzzle. I think they’re really concerned with good academics and a good social life. Things like that.

“I think they believe that if you can have all those things, football just kind of falls into place for itself, obviously, through working hard on the field and stuff. It’s just cool to know they’re on the same page as I am with all that stuff. Obviously, their game plan is working for how to handle a team and players, because they’ve been winning, they are winning and they’ll continue to win big.”

Over the weekend, Reeves spent time with most of the offensive linemen. Maverick Morris served as host.

“I really enjoyed getting to know (Morris) and getting his perspective on things,” Reeves said. “He’s been successful, on and off the field there, so it was really cool, kind of learning from him, what he does and how he makes it work.”

Conversations with the coaching staff didn’t include much talk about ball.

“We didn’t really talk redshirting, not redshirting. I would imagine that I would redshirt. I mean, if I had to guess, I would say I’m definitely redshirting,” Reeves said. “They didn’t tell me 100 percent, one way or another. I would be glad to redshirt, for my development and things like that. I just want to get there, work hard and help the team any way that I can and just do my thing.”
