On Thursday, Dabo Swinney stopped by Vestavia Hills High School in Alabama to offer 2016 safety Nolan Turner.
Turner committed on the spot.
“I’ve been talking to Dabo the last few days and I’d planned an official visit for this weekend. He was in Alabama recruiting and said he was going to come talk to me at the school today, so I went down and met with him,” Turner said. “We had been talking for a while, then about midway through the conversation he offered me a scholarship.”
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect had 63 tackles and five interceptions as a senior. He’s familiar with the campus, too. Over the last several years, he’s attended Swinney’s camp.
“I like what they stand for. I love Dabo and the atmosphere for the games and the walk down the hill and everything,” Turner said. “It’s just awesome.”
The plan was to attend Alabama and join the team as a preferred walk-on. UAB offered, along with some of the other smaller schools in Alabama.
“It’s a dream come true, a very humbling moment for me and I’m really excited,” Turner said.
